The whole family gathered at my parents’ house last weekend. As we drank coffee after a delicious lunch, our father’s story began. The story about my father when he was young was the first time I heard it.
He didn’t graduate from a good college and didn’t inherit a lot of money. Throughout his life, my father worked hard and always treated people with kindness and truthfulness. As a successful businessman, my father raised me and my younger brother well. I love and respect my father.
In the 1980s, my father ran a computer-related business in Korea. Although he suffered business failures, he worked all his life in one field and eventually succeeded. Before he became successful, many things happened to him, according to my father. He had been betrayed by colleagues he trusted at times. Furthermore, he received assistance during a time of financial crisis. He had ups and downs in his life.
During this time, he reduced his sleeping time and traveled across the country selling software he had developed with colleagues. With a relaxed and smiling face, my father told me all these stories. My brother and I quietly listened to my father’s story of his youth.
On the way home, I thought that not everyone’s life in the world is comfortable. It dawned on me that I had to cope with the difficulties I was experiencing and my uncertain future. My mind asked me. Am I faithful? Do I perform my duties well?
My mom made lunch. Thank you, mom.
My mother came to mind. Even though my father had a difficult life, my mother never left his side. She lived a life of devotion by making a warm breakfast for my father in the morning before he left for work.
My parents have shaped me into the person I am today. As a result of my parents’ tireless efforts throughout my life, I have a good education, a husband, and two children. Move your body and work hard instead of complaining. Our future will be bright if we live to the fullest. I would like to thank all the parents in this world for their hard work. I respect all those who work hard and do their best in their fields.
